The Tufton Arms Hotel is in the centre of Appleby in Westmorlands, Cumbria. The hotel offers small, intimate and luxurious hotel accommodation that is ideally located for a relaxing break away or as a stop over for those touring the Lake District and the Teesdale National Park.

Our hotel rooms are furnished with contemporary fabrics, soft muted paint colours and heavily patterned wallpapers to provide a classic and luxury feel. Combined with our antiques, engravings and large table lamps gives our hotel a high class yet informal atmosphere. The hotel has 22 rooms, from single rooms at very reasonable rates to extravagant suites with extra space and luxury. We also have two rooms situated on the ground floor easily accessible from our Mews courtyard. Hotel rooms available are:

6 standard doubles.

Our bathrooms are modern and contemporary and are equipped with complimentary Molten Brown toiletries and fluffy towels.

The chefs at the hotel are passionate about the food they serve and like to ensure that wherever possible fresh local produce is used and prepared with skill and flair to create delicious dishes. So from breakfast to dinner we know that you won’t be disappointed with the menus on offer. In an evening we also have a decent wine list available that offers both diversity and value for money.

We have 1 deluxe self catering apartment with 2 en suite bathrooms available. 2 one bed self catering apartments are also available.

Appleby is rightly regarded as the jewel of north west towns with its wide elegant main street Boroughgate, ancient church and grand castle all looped by the River Eden. The town is the old county town of Westmorland and is set in the heart of the tranquil, unspoilt and beautiful Eden Valley which lies between the Dales to the south, the North Pennines ANOB to the north and the northern Lake District to the West.

There are a host of places to visit in the Eden Valley and many outdoor activities to enjoy. We offer fly fishing for both wild brown trout and salmon on The River Eden along with guiding and tuition and are responsible for many would be anglers having their first experiences on the river! The Eden valley is also blessed with perhaps the most spectacular natural feature in the North of England, High Cup Nick. It is a truly special walk and well worth the effort!
