The village of Grasmere is well known for it links to William Wordsworth who lived in the village with his wife for a number of years. He oassed away whilst out walking in the area in 1850 and there is a tombstone for him at St Oswald’s Church. Many of the buildings date back to the 19th or 20th Century and the village church dates back to the 13th Century. Near the church you can also go for a number of walks along the river. There is also Wordsworth Daffodil Garden which is a peaceful place to visit the old village school is still there.
One of the biggest attractions is Grasmere Lake which has some lovely walks and during the summer months there are rowing boats for hire. In August there is the Rushbearing Festival. If you enjoy eating out there are plenty of traditional pubs and restaurants in the area along with cafes and tea rooms. There are plenty of other places to visit nearby in the Lake District so there is something to see and do for everyone.
