The Briers Country House is situated just outside of Newcastle in County Down and provides guests with a relaxing retreat from which to explore this wonderful part of Northern Ireland. The guest house dates back to the 18th Century and is perfect for walkers, wedding guests and sight seers.

There are nine guest rooms available at our country house and also a 3 bedroomed self catering cottage for holiday let (sleeps 7 people). They are all recently decorated and furnished to a high standard so we know that you will have a relaxing retreat to make for a truly unique break away. Each of our guest rooms include; Freeview TV, iron and a hair dryer. Cots can be provided on request. The little extras that make your stay more memorable!! On arrival our guests will receive a welcome tray of tea, coffee and biscuits. (Help yourself to tea and coffee from our guest lounge throughout your stay).

The photos on this advert are of our Deluxe Rooms which are the higher classification. We have 4 of these rooms available and also offer other lovely rooms which are called Classic Bedrooms.

Breakfast is served in the spacious dining room overlooking the gardens, while a traditional breakfast is available, we also have a breakfast menu designed to hopefully suit all tastes. We endeavour to use fresh, local produce and free range eggs. Packed lunches and evening meals are available by prior arrangement.

Our guest house is less than a 15 minute walk from the centre of Newcastle and is less than an hour from Belfast, Newry and Lisburn which have some great shops, restaurants and cafes. For the more adventurous, we offer a fantastic location to begin to explore the varied terrain around the area, with plenty of outdoor centres to help you on your way, whilst the luxurious seaweed baths and nearby seaside spas offer a less strenuous way to recharge your batteries.
